Arrive into Shannon Airport and pick up your rental car and head to the Rock of Cashel, where St. Patrick baptized the King of Munster. It’s also one of the best collections of Celtic art and medieval architecture in all of Ireland. Afterwards, drive to Limerick where you’ll be staying for the evening. Visit highlights here such as St. Mary’s Cathedral, King John’s Castle and the Treaty Stone.

Drive to the charming town of Westport and this afternoon you can visit the holy mountain of Croagh Patrick. It’s where Patrick chose to complete his Lent pilgrimage of 40 days and 40 nights and is now the most important pilgrimage site in Ireland.

Drive to the Walled City, Derry. En route you can stop at Lough Derg, it’s here that St. Patrick’s Purgatory is found, surrounded by water on all sides. It’s named for the cave where St. Patrick spent time praying, and this island is a haven for pilgrims. Please note during high seaon, access to the island is participating in a pilgrimage retreat only, let us know if you are interested. However you can stop in the Visitor Center.
Overnight - Derry
Today you can tour your way through the Antrim Coast. Visit UNESCO site Giant’s Causeway, and then walk across Carrick-a-Rope Bridge. Next stop by the Dark Hedges, a filming site for Game of Thrones. Afterwards travel to Slemish Mountain, where it all began for Patrick. He was brought to Ireland as a slave from Wales, and he spent 6 years here tending sheep. You can walk up the 1.2 mile trail to the summit of Slemish.
Overnight - Newcastle
This morning you can visit Downpatrick, it’s here that St. Patrick is thought to be buried, laying beneath the Memorial Stone at Down Cathedral. Stop by the Saint Patrick Centre, which celebrates his life. You can next visit nearby Struell Wells, blessed by him when he first arrived in Downpatrick. Then you’ll head south to the Hill of Tara and the Hill of Slane, where you can learn about Ireland’s pagan past and how Patrick spread his message.

You’ll return your rental car to Dublin Airport and depart
