It's going to be your year

Holy moly. It’s 2019. Can you believe it?

I can. It keeps on happening. And yet, everyone you know is gonna say

“I can’t believe it’s a new year.”

Everyone is so ambitious now too. We make big goals. We have big plans. We start drinking more water and going to crowded gym classes. We make promises about spending less time on our phones and more time reading. Everyone is thinking the same thing.

This is going to be THE YEAR.

All that energy and enthusiasm is the best. Then a few weeks go by and suddenly you’ve replace water with wine (let’s call this a miracle and keep moving, mkay?)  and then pilates changes to pizza night. Or whatever version of this applies to you. Back into old habits, until we start making plans again for next year.

I don’t have all the answers. But I can tell you what you can do to make sure that 2019 is the year you finally take the dream trip.  It is on your goal list, isn’t it? Maybe you’ve said you were going to prioritize travel before, but the year came and went and you didn’t really go anywhere.

It’s easy to say “one day I want to go here”. To do some googling or drool over some ig pics of your dream spot. To bring it into reality, you gotta try something different. You can’t just drool over IG pics or scroll Pinterest and hope you teleport there. You have to start taking the steps to REALLY make it a priority.

While I can’t personally negotiate your time off or allocate the funds for you, I do know when it comes to traveling, these are the first steps.  Start asking yourself (and any travel mates) the real questions and prepare yourselves to address where you really are.

How to make 2019 the year you travel - North & Leisure - #travel #traveltips #customtravel

How many days can you commit to travel?

What amount will you invest in your travel experience?

This is the most crucial information to start. It will give you a clear picture. Don’t actually have the budget for your dream trip this year? That’s the perfect time to start saving, to make it happen next year.

If you do have the time and money you’ll need, then next step is to plan it out. One thing I know for certain, everyone, no matter their budget, they want to maximize their days and their dollars.

I know how hard is to do just that. To make sure you are making the very most of your precious time off and your hard earned money. It’s not easy to create an itinerary built around what you want, what you need and match it up to the time and money you’re working with. I know it’s hard, because I plan travel every day, full time, and have for over a decade.

I’d love to invite you to work with me this year. There’s nothing like working with a travel pro, leveraging years of experience and relationships on your behalf.  So much of my work is about helping people develop discover places I adore: Ireland, Scotland, and Atlantic Canada. If you are really passionate about making this year the year you go, let’s work together.  Head here to get started.

PS - is your dream trip to somewhere besides Ireland, Scotland, or Atlantic Canada? I happen to be co-founder of Travel Pro Theory, and have great connections to tons of wonderful travel pros. You can email me at hello@northandleisure and I’ll be happy to connect you to someone for your dream destination.
